| The Rays defeated the Rangers 5-2 behind a complete game gem from starter David Price in a one-game playoff, sending them on to play the Indians in the American League wild-card game Wednesday night. The winner of that game will play the Red Sox in a series opening Friday afternoon, while the A's and Tigers will do battle Friday evening. In the National League, the Reds will travel to Pittsburgh for the wild-card game, with the winner playing the Cardinals. The Dodgers' series against the Braves opens Thursday. |
