Breaking News -- Senate approves two-year budget deal

The Senate endorsed the bipartisan deal that was approved by the House last week. It now goes to President Obama, who has said he will sign it. The deal sets government funding levels for the next two years and achieves small reductions in the deficit. It also heads off the threat of a government shutdown in January, though Congress will still have to pass spending bills early next year to implement the agreed-upon budget blueprint.
