Recently, Airtel Nigeria introduced a recharge airtime loan service to all regular subscribers in case of an emergency, and pay back later when next recharge.

Since the introduction of the telecommunication in Nigeria, major players in the industry have been competing hard to win the hearts of their customers with their various packages. It's in view of these that Airtel Nigeria introduced this new package that allows customers to request for airtime (credit) in advance without using physical recharge cards to top up their airtime balances.  The package is known as airtel talk time advance services. The customer is required to send a request through a zero-rated code *500# which will provide the denomination of airtime available to the requesting customer. With this service, you can request for airtime in emergency situations at any location and time.

How To Borrow Money From Airtel Nigeria?

To use this service, the customer simply needs to initiate a request by dialing *500# and his /her line is given options from which to chose the desired value of airtime which can be used for voice calls, sms and data. The borrowed airtime credit is deducted when the customer recharges his/her line. The denominations of airtime available for lending on the airtel Talk Time Advance service are: N50, N100, N200, and N500.

Also, you can dial *500*the amount you want to borrow# and send. e.g *500*200# send.

Service charge of N10, N20, N30, N40, N50 will be deducted from the borrowed amount respectively. The 10% service charge is deducted directly from the borrowed credit implying that if a customer borrows N50, he will only get N45.

Repayment of Airtel Nigeria Advance Airtime

Customers of the service will be required to repay the advance credit within a period of 72 hours from when the customer's line is credited.

Airtel will deduct the Advance airtime requested (N50, N100, N200 or N500) from the user's main account at the time of next recharge or top up whether or not the customer uses the advance airtime borrowed.

The advance airtime will be deducted from subsequent recharges by customers either in full or by partial recovery until Advance airtime is recovered.

Service Eligibility To Be Able To Borrow Credit From Airtel Nigeria Network:

An active line: meaning customer's line has not been suspended or deactivated under airtel's existing policies
Network Age: A prepaid customer who has been on the airtel network for a minimum period of three (3) months prior to the date of request for Talk Time Advance
Customer must be a pre-paid customer
The customer must have re-paid all prior advance credit provided by (in the case of a returning customer)
