Breaking News -- BREAKING: Helicopter rescue of icebound ship in Antarctica begins

A long-awaited rescue of passengers on board the Akademik Shokalskiy, a research ship that has been trapped in Antarctic ice for more than a week, is finally underway. Expedition spokesman Alvin Stone said a helicopter from a nearby Chinese icebreaker has started to evacuate the 52 scientists and tourists on board. The ship's 22 crew members plan to remain with the icebound vessel.
